Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. -- Romans 12:2

The Last Conversion: Head, Heart and Wallet

2009 Bishop's Convocation

November 18-20 @ Willow Valley Resort

Welcome from Bishop Burkat

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21

According to Martin Luther, “There are three conversions a person needs to experience: The conversion of the head; the conversion of the heart; and the conversion of the pocketbook.”  How often do we cling to our wallets, our money, our net worth even after we have surrendered our mind and heart to the Lord?  What better time than now to reflect on aligning our resources (heart, head and checkbook) with our faith practices and missional service?

bp_ngagi.jpgReflection, discussion and discernment of personal as well as corporate stewardship will challenge us to examine how we “Share Spend and Save”.  Don’t be afraid to explore these priorities with your colleagues and convocation leaders.  This convocation may change your life, reduce your stress, and bless you as only the abundant life in Christ can. Download a registration brochure for the convocation.

The photo here with Pastor Ngugi was taken in Tanzania the evening I baptized 16 children.  We will have several guests with us this year.  Our global companion, the North Eastern Diocese of Tanzania will be sending a delegation to the SEPA Synod for two weeks.  We are delighted the time coincides with our Convocation.  I have also invited several Episcopal priests from our ecumenical partner the Diocese of Pennsylvania to attend the Convocation as well.
