The Growing Economic Divide: Which Side Are You On?

The Lehigh County Conference of Churches and its Justice and Advocacy Committee will present a day-long workshop entitled ‘The Growing Economic Divide: Which Side Are You On?’ on Saturday, October 29, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM at Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ, 620 Hamilton Street, Allentown. Those interested may register for the morning session, the afternoon session, or both.

Many people feel stressed by the current economic climate in America - high unemployment, housing foreclosures, rising cost of health care, and cutbacks in public services. Our program uses role play and a number of "popular education" techniques to explore the roots and consequences of the economic divide in America and how we can be engaged in promoting greater economic equality.

Featured speaker will be Steve Schnapp, Education Coordinator, United for a Fair Economy. Schnapp has nearly 40 years experience as a community-based organizer, educator, and activist in New York City and the Greater Boston areas. United for a Fair Economy designs and leads "popular education" workshops on economic justice issues across the U.S. and Canada.
