SEPA youth are going places

Can a trip change your life? There’s no doubt about it!

YouthTZ - Ministry in Tanzania Youth from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod have many opportunities for life changing experiences.  Fellowship of Lutheran Youth (FLY) events; The Summit at Bear Creek Camp exploring Judaism, Christianity and Islam; National Youth Gatherings; and servant events in the neighborhood and around the world.

This summer a group of youth and young adults from our synod are in for a truly extraordinary adventure.

In August of 2008, a group of 9 youth and young adults will be journeying to our companion synod, the Northeastern Diocese of Tanzania.  This trip is unique in that it is not a servant trip but rather one of cultural immersion and learning.  They are going to Tanzania to learn from and about our brothers and sisters and the ministry the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania is engaged in there.

The trip will include many experiences including visits to schools, congregations, SEKUCo (the university that our synod is partnering to build in Tanzania), and a variety of social ministry organizations including an orphanage for AIDS orphans, and a school for the blind. There will be opportunities to see the joys and struggles that are part of everyday life in a culture that is very different and to recognize the joys and struggles that are shared by all people of faith, wherever they may be. They are even planning a brief safari.

These life changing experiences build world changing leaders.  Muzuri Safari!  Have a great journey!
