Every December the Seamen's Church Institute’s chaplains and ship visitors distribute around 3,000 Christmas Ditty Bags to the merchant mariners who will be at sea during the Christmas Holidays. Our Ditty Bags bring real joy to the brave men who spend 9-10 months at sea bringing us the things we need to sustain our everyday lives. The ship’s captain typically places the Ditty Bags at each seafarer’s cabin door on Christmas morning. For some, this is the only gift they receive. We invite your congregation to support our efforts to bring cheer and hope to our “far flung congregation”. Please take the time to review the enclosed information explaining this exciting program.
