Diakon installs new CEO
Mark T. Pile was installed Friday as president/CEO of Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries. Pile, who was formerly the organization’s chief operating officer, became president/CEO Jan. 1.
The installation involved the bishops of the six Evangelical Lutheran Church in America synods in which Diakon serves.

Participating in the installation ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, were Bishop Samuel Zeiser of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod; Bishop Claire Burkat, Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod; Bishop Robert Driesen, Upper Susquehanna Synod; Bishop B. Penrose Hoover, Lower Susquehanna Synod; Interim Bishop Theodore Schneider of the Delaware-Maryland Synod, and Bishop Gregory Pile of the Allegheny Synod, Mark Pile’s brother.
Providing senior living accommodations, health care, and a range of family and children’s programs in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries serves people without regard to religious affiliation. Last year the organization, which dates to 1868, served more than half-a-million people.
